Beast grinned. If taking out the rest of the USC7 defense forces proved as easy as overpowering these three, capturing the facility would be a cinch.

Cody and Kevin stepped up to Ramon and Mikos. Kevin slammed the butt of his weapon into Mikos’ face. Mikos stirred and moaned. Kevin hit him again, knocking out the man.

Beast walked up to So-young. He pulled down the hood of her parka and ripped off her beanie. Her long brunette hair spilled down her back.

“Well, well. What do we have here?”

So-young remained silent.

Beast slapped her across the face, the blow softened by his heavy gloves.

“You can make this easy or difficult. I don’t care.”

“I’m Corporal Kim So-young of the EDF.”

“I assume you know what happened to our friends.”

“One was killed when he attacked our people. The other two are prisoners.”

“Which means they’re being tortured for information.”

“We’re not animals like you.”

Beast punched So-young in the face, the blow cushioned by his gloves but powerful enough to knock her off balance. She kicked Beast in the groin with the heel of her boot, which would have taken him down if his gear had not contained so much padding. Grabbing So-young by the collar, Beast dragged her to him and head-butted her. She dropped to her knees, dazed.

He evaluated the situation. He motioned to Cody and Kevin and pointed to the unconscious EDF soldiers.

“Strip those two of their clothes and weapons. Load their gear in the Hagglund. It’s ours now.”

“What should we do with them?”

“Leave them to freeze.”

Cody nodded.

“Then get me a pair of pliers from the snowmobiles.” Beast stood so he towered over So-young. “I’m going to show this bitch how we treat our prisoners.”
